The essential items you will need to bring to an Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch when renting a vehicle are a valid drivers license, valid ID, and a credit or debit card. No. At Enterprise you don't need to purchase insurance as we provide a damage waiver within the cost of your rental. All drivers must be a minimum of 25 years old. Only drivers over 30 years old may rent full-size MPVs, premium vehicles/exotic cars and Luton vans. Younger drivers might be interested in Enterprise Car Club. Learn more about age requirements for renting a vehicle here.

All drivers must present a full valid driving license. If the driving license is written in a language and characters different to those of the country of rental, an International Driving Permit is also required.  Learn more about car rental driving license requirements here.

Visitors to Lancashire usually want to spend at least a day in Blackpool. In summer, you can experience sandy beaches on the Irish Sea. During the winter months, you can wonder at the annual illuminations, when the promenade becomes a festival of colour. Blackpool is known for its entertainment and the Opera House and Winter Gardens attract major stars from across the globe. The Trough of Bowland is an equally popular beauty spot with walkers and cyclists alike. The road through the Trough links Clitheroe with Lancaster and is the route taken by the Pendle Witches on the way to their trial in 1612.

Places To Go Outside Lancashire

Prior to boundary changes in 1974, both Manchester and Liverpool were part of Lancashire. Today, of course, they are metropolitan counties and promise a great day trip to explore from Lancashire with a rental car. Manchester is a thriving metropolis with a vibrant shopping center, high-class restaurants and bars, and of course, two football teams. Liverpool is steeped in its maritime history – visit the regenerated Albert Docks, take a ferry across the Mersey to Birkenhead or book yourself on a Beatles tour. If a city experience doesn’t appeal to you, the Lake District is not too far away. Drive up to Kirkby Lonsdale and from there up to Kendal, Lake Windermere and its charming town.

Airport Car Rental

Manchester International Airport, situated at Ringway, is the third busiest airport in the UK and is easily accessible from all parts of Lancashire. The airport has flights to over 200 different destinations, and the world's major airlines operate from here. The airport has a range of parking options, including multi-storey covered parking and is only a two-minute walk from check-in. Parking facilities include long stay parking, with a transfer time by shuttle bus of 4-5 minutes, and longer Jet Stay and Jet Stay Plus options, which must be booked in advance. Enterprise has a branch close to the airport, so regardless of whether you collected your car rental from our airport branch, you can arrange to return it there so you don't have to worry about other forms of transport to the airport.

Parking And Traffic

In terms of parking, Lancashire is no different to any other county with parking facilities operated by both local councils and private operators. In some of the quieter towns, it is possible to find free parking spaces; in large urban centers, parking tends to be at a premium. The M6 Motorway is central to Lancashire’s economy and enters the county close to Lancaster, the County Town, and runs close to Preston, the administrative center. The M65 from Colne connects Burnley, Accrington and Blackburn to Preston. Manchester is linked to the county through the M61 and M66, and the M62, one of the highest motorway routes in the country, provides the link to Leeds and the M1.
